FAMILY:- UMBELLIFERAE

SANSKRIT NAMES

Ajamodika, Dipyaka, Yamani, Yamanika, Yavani, Yavanika

DESCRIPTION

Annual herb up to 90 cm tall, erect, glabrous or minutely pubescent; roots pale yellow or brownish, 1 cm in diameter. Stem slender, striated.

PART USED:- FRUIT

DOSE:- Churna - 1-3 gms., Oil 1 - 3 drops, Ark 20- 40 ml

CHEMICALCONSTITUENTS

Camphene, Carvacrol, P-cymne, Myrcene, Thymene, Thymol, Linoleic acid, Oeic acid, Palmitic acid, Protein,Tannins, Flavone, Phenolic galactoside

GUNA (Quality):- Laghu (light to digest), Rukshan (dry), Teekshna (piercing)
RASA (Taste):- Katu (pungent), Tikt (bitter)
VIPAK (Metabolism):- Katu (pungent)
VIRYA (Potency):- Ushan (hot)
Effect on Tridosh:-Kaphavatahara – balances Kapha and Vata, increases Pitta.
