Introduction OF AMLA (EMBLICA OFFICINALIS)
Important of amla for human boday and in ayurveda formulation with morden scientific view.
Difference between morden medical science and ayurved is in the way of presentation and concept .
Amla has been used in Ayurveda medicinal practices for thousands of years.
Amla is a highly revered rasayana (rejuvenative) for the entire system. Specifically, it promotes youthfulness, boost immunity, tonifies all the body’s tissues and promotes overall health and well-being.
Important of amla for human body.
Amla contains a very high concentration of vitamin C, one of the highest known in the plant kingdom—twenty times that of an orange.vitamin C contained in the amla fruit is stabilized by the presence of tannins, which help amla to maintain its vitamin content even through processing.
vitamin C is also called Ascorbic acid.Vitamin C is a cofactor in enzymatic reactions.
Ascorbic acid performs numerous physiological functions in the human body. These functions include the synthesis of collagen, carnitine, and neurotransmitters; the synthesis and catabolism of tyrosine; and the metabolism of microsome.During biosynthesis ascorbate acts as a reducing agent, donating electrons and preventing oxidation to keep iron and copper atoms in their reduced states.
Why Vayasthapana – Anti aging group of herbs?
Vitamin C is a cofactor in at least eight enzymatic reactions, including several collagen synthesis reactions Three enzymes (prolyl-3-hydroxylase, prolyl-4-hydroxylase, and lysyl hydroxylase) that are required for the hydroxylation of proline and lysine in the synthesis of collagen.collagen is very important to make skin look young
Kanthya – useful in throat diseases, improves voice, good for throat.Hrudya – good for heart?
These reactions add hydroxyl groups to the amino acids proline or lysine in the collagen molecule via prolyl hydroxylase and lysyl hydroxylase, both requiring vitamin C as a cofactor. Hydroxylation allows the collagen molecule to assume its triple helix structure, and thus vitamin C is essential to the development and maintenance of scar tissue, blood vessels, and cartilage.
Chakshushya – good for eyes, improves vision power?
Two enzymes (ε-N-trimethyl-L-lysine hydroxylase and γ-butyrobetaine hydroxylase) that are necessary for synthesis of carnitine.Carnitine is essential for the transport of fatty acids into mitochondria for ATP generation.
Maidhya-It is a brain tonic, it promotes memory?
The remaining three enzymes have the following functions in common, but have other functions as well:
dopamine beta hydroxylase participates in the biosynthesis of norepinephrine from dopamine.
Pramehaghna – Useful in diabetes,Vrushya – aphrodisiac?
Peptidylglycine alpha-amidating monooxygenase amidates peptide hormones by removing the glyoxylate residuefrom their c-terminal glycine residues. This increases peptide hormone stability and activity.
Rasayana – anti aging, rejuvenative?
4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase modulates tyrosine metabolism.Tyrosine or 4-hydroxyphenylalanine is one of the 20 standard amino acids that are used by cells to synthesize proteins
Raktapittaghna – useful in bleeding disorders?
Vitamin C is a cofactor in collagen synthesis reactions that, these reactions are especially important in wound-healing and in preventing bleeding from capillaries
Jvarahara – useful in fever?
Immune system -Vitamin C is found in high concentrations in immune cells, and is consumed quickly during infectionsit has been hypothesized to modulate the activities of phagocytes, the production of cytokines and lymphocytes, and the number of cell adhesion molecules in monocytes
Important of amla in ayurveda formulation?
Ascorbate also acts as an antioxidant, protecting against oxidative stress.donating electrons and preventing oxidation
