Introduction OF JATAMANSI (NORDOSTACHYS JATAMANSI)

It is wonderful medicinal herb used since Charaka times for many medicinal purposes.
It has various therapeutic actions on body specially Bhutaghna, Manasadoshahara i.e. effective in neuro-psychiatric conditions and skin diseases.which has calming, peaceful and relaxation features.
It is a natural nervine tonic and a memory enhancer. In ENGLISH it is called Spikenard

BOTANICAL NAME:- NORDOSTACHYS JATAMANSI

FAMILY:- VALERIANACEAE

SANSKRIT NAMES

Jatamansi, Bhuutjata, Tapasvani,Tapasvini, sulomasa, Bhutajata,Nalanda (aromatic)

DESCRIPTION

An erect, perennial, aromatic herb, 10-70 cm high, with long, stout, woody grayish, rhizomes, tail-like root stock covered with reddish-brown hairs or tufted fibrous remain of the petioles of withered radical leves.

PART USED:- ROOT

DOSE:- 2 - 4 gm.
